Residents of Flint, Michigan are being forced to pay for the water that is poisoning them. The issue was not fixed as promised. Instead their water is being cut off for unpaid bills. They must even use bottled water for flushing toilets, ans it is feared that the free water distribution sites will be shut down. Some residents have to heat bathing water on the stove. Nakiya Wakes was a victim of this crisis. Her daughter has had seizures as a result of lack of clean water and she lost her unborn twins. The decision to switch the city’s water supply from lake Huron to the Flint River proved disastrous.
