After a harmful algae bloom affected the drinking water of 400,000 citizens this past summer, legislators in the state of Ohio are now taking steps to clean and keep Lake Erie free from toxins. The first step in this initial plan is to ban farmers from spreading manure on top of frozen fields in order to prevent runoff from contaminating the lake.
