Dutch researchers are looking to develop “Blue Energy” by using the difference in salt concentration between fresh water and seawater to produce electrical power. The plant is estimated to produce 50 megawatts to power up to 100 Dutch homes, if successful. A similar trial was conducted in Norway back in 2009.
