Globally, the push to get more environmentally friendly energy sources is at an all time high. One of the popular methods to do this is through wind farming. However, a recent study shows that wind farming might actually be harming the environment, specifically water supplies.

A doctor in Scotland is blaming the largest Scottish windfarm for contaminating the public water supply with the potential cancer-causing chemical trihalomethane. She believes that the disturbed peat that resulted after excavating the area to make room for the windfarm added more carbon and chemicals into the fresh water. The bottom line is that we should continue to encourage the creation of renewable energy, but maybe consider the consequences of the immediate environment around it.
