Despite it being so close to one of Earth’s greatest fresh water sources, the residents of Flint, Michigan have a water problem. Since the city broke away from the water system of the nearby city of Detroit, the residents have to use filthy river water as they await the completion of a pipe to Lake Huron. How bad could it possibly be?

Health concerns in the area are on the rise, with reports of people getting rashes, losing hair, and other problems due to consuming the water. Even a nearby General Motors plant has stopped using the water, stating that it was rusting its parts. Needless to say, the residents need an alternative resource until the pipeline to Lake Huron is finished in 2016.
