“Flushable” wet wipes are clogging toilets, drains and sewers, according to a report from Wessex Water, backed by environmental groups. They are urging the Advertising Standards Authority to ban the term “flushable” because of over 13,000 blockages each year in the Wessex region alone. Sewerage crews report that the wipes do not break down in the way that wipe manufacturers claim.
