We all need drinking water to survive. Drinking bad water can not only make you sick but it can actually kill you. There is a project in the works right now that is trying to further understand drinking water quality through enhanced analysis. It is a four year study in Europe and incudes a tax free stipend. Things they hope to learn include how using advanced analytics can help get fresher water, what tools to use, and what would be most beneficial.

Key Takeaways:

  • Smart networks usually try to detect events like leaks and bursts or pressure changes in the flow. It does not take into account corrosion or accumulating contamination.
  • The project will use existing data and appropriate analytics to improve drinking water quality.
  • Applicants to the program should have a strong background in engineering or computer science, with experience in data analysis.
