The UK’s health care system is in crisis, and needs systemic restructuring in order to prevent the frequent negative shocks it has been experiencing in recent history. With a newly elected government, the United Kingdom has an excellent opportunity to enact policy change to the National Health Service (NHS). These changes should include business and community leaders, who have been largely left out of the conversation since the government took control of health services in 1948. This new system should incorporate all of societies institutions, not strictly the health sector. The role of education and business cannot be underestimated. If they are left out of the new health care paradigm any change would be largely aesthetic, and not address the root problems of the NHS.
