UK to Generate Power Via Tidal Lagoons

On March 11, 2015, in Commentary, by Erik

Throughout the world, many countries are finding ways to generate power without relying on fossil fuels like oil and coal. The United Kingdom has found a way to generate energy that hasn’t been done before. New plans are being made for the world’s first lagoon power plants!

The giant man-made lakes located in Wales and England are able to generate electricity through the power of the lagoon’s tides. The engineers believe that the lagoons can provide 8% of the UK’s electricity. The high and low tides of the lagoon are able to maneuver a turbine that in turn generates the power.
