Thanks in part to a defense budget increase, the UK Royal Navy has just put to water it’s first ever river vessel, one of three that is in production. Once it is tested and equipped with state-of-the-art combat systems, it will be handed over to the Royal Navy for national security purposes.

Key Takeaways:

  • Uk Navy built a state of the art off-shore patrol vessel the HMS Forth. The boat was launched in Scottland
  • It will undergo testing before being delivered to the UK Royal Navy. two other OPVs are currently being built
  • The ship will be used for tasks ranging from disaster relief missions to maritime security. The ship will be able to cruise at 24 knots

“”Supported by a rising defence budget, the rollout of HMS Forth reflects the success of the OPV programme.””
