According to research done with the Hubble Space Telescope there may be three planets that have water on them. With the telescope, scientists have discovered that there are planets that circle around a sun called Trappist-1. The three farthest away planets have a significant amount of water on them. Although they have water, the Trappist Sun gives off too much radiation though. The amount of water dissolves with high amounts of radiation and the planets have eight times more and it happens quicker then on earth.

Key Takeaways:

  • Substantial amounts of water found on 7 earth sized planets
  • Discovery increases the chances of finding life on other worlds
  • Because of disassociation of the last couple billion years the planets could have lost most of their water

“Three potentially habitable Earth-sized planets in another solar system are likely to contain substantial amounts of water, say astronomers.”
