In order to promote inclusion and encourage Muslim women to consider policing as a career option, Scotland will make the hijab an official part of the police uniform. The headwear no longer requires a senior officer’s permission to wear. Scotland joins London’s Metropolitan Police who have allowed officers to wear the veil since 2001.
