Southern Water has promised to improve performance after a 10 per cent rise in written customer complaints in 2015-16. The Consumer Council for Water reported that this made Southern the worst performing water company for four consecutive years. The company said that this was mainly due to billing complaints, rather than problems with water service, and detailed steps being taken to improve customer service. They also said that complaints had fallen since the period covered by the report.
