Lonnie Johnson, a name that is not as familiar as his invention that became a phenomenon. Lonnie, an engineer who overcame much adversity, went on to become a NASA engineer who helped test the first stealth bomber. His more famous invention was the Super Soaker, the most powerful water pistol created at the time.
