While on a five-day family holiday in Egypt, 10-year-old Emily Bridges fell ill. What was thought to be ‘dodgy belly’ by a local doctor turned out to be a life-threatening illness. After landing in Britain and still feeling sick, Emily was rushed to the St. Thomas’ Hospital where she was diagnosed with E.coli and Hemolytic-uremic syndrome. The doctors found her vital organs had begun to shut down and she spent a week on life support as her condition deteriorated immensely. She is no longer in critical condition and remains positive about what lies ahead.
