This year was a record year for Israel. The past twelve months saw Israel had its driest year ever, which is saying something given its desert climate. Yet citizens somehow crops still grow, people still have drinking water, and Israel has more water than it expected. How did Israel defeat the dependence of rain?

Israel’s desalination plants haven’t just saved the nation from drought, but outright conquered Mother Nature. By turning seawater into tap water and reusing wastewater for irrigation, Israel is able to function and live without a reliance on precipitation.
