A routine water sample test has led to the issuance of a boil water advisory for the 46,600 people serviced by Lough Mask Water Treatment Plant. Irish Water and Mayo County Council say cryptosporidium was detected in the water sample. The source of the contamination is being investigated, and priority customers are being called directly to be advised about the problem.
