The Royal Academy of Engineering gave the prestigious innovation prize to Askwar Hilonga for his invention. Hilonga developed a water filter that cleans water through sand and nanotechnology. The sand adequately filters out debris and bacteria while the nanotech removes chemical contaminants. Hilonga plans on use the prize money to create more of these filters inexpensively.
