This article from The Guardian describes how the Environmental Protection Agency is reportedly losing the battle against the contamination of American drinking water by a heavy metal known to cause cancer in humans and animals known as hexavalent chromium, or chromium-6. Data from a nationwide test found that 12,000 Americans are at risk of getting cancer and there is still no national standard present to prevent widespread contamination. The Electric Power Industry is largely responsible compared to other industries. Erin Brockovich wrote to The Guardian and urges Americans to be active in fixing the nation’s water supply.
