Water has been spurting 70ft in the air since around 9am on a building site in Bridge field Forum in Hale wood, with the jet dwarfing nearby homes.
United Utilities has warned that homes in Hale wood, Belle Vale, Gate acre, Hunts Cross, Wool ton and Northerly could have no water or low pressure following the pipe burst.It urged customers in the area to start storing water in case the supply stops completely while its engineers fix the leak.
