Former London mayor Boris Johnson spent over £300,000 on the purchase of three water cannons, the use of which was banned by British Prime Minister Theresa May before they were ever employed. These never-used water cannons are now costing the British government around £20,000 per year in maintenance. London’s current mayor, Sadiq Khan, has made promises that he will sell the three contraptions and put the proceeds towards youth services but in the months since he’s taken office, Mr. Khan has been unable to find a buyer that meets his ethical requirements.
