The price war among Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, and Asda within the United Kingdom has gone to insane levels. In the latest price slashing, the Grocer’s fresh milk is now cheaper than bottled water. The others are likely to follow suit.

This sets a poor precedent. First, to the dairy farmer who will likely leave the industry since they are seeing their profits dramatically increase. Secondly, while milk can be consumed for health benefits, it cannot be used as replacement for water to rehydrate the body. The fact that milk is now cheaper can lead to families to do just that.
