Under a new program from Wessex Water, technicians carried out more than 22,000 visits to the homes of customers in Mere and Gillingham, sharing tools to help decrease home water consumption. This includes installing over 47,000 water-saving devices, including more efficient shower heads and small strips designed to detect water leakage. These actions have saved more more than 47 liters per household, every day! Home Check started out with just 5,000 people, but has grown to include fifteen thousand households by 2020.

Key Takeaways:

  • The program gives water saving devices and appliances free to help save water and many homes have acquired this at the Wessex water region.
  • Overall about 22,000 visits were made to the homes of people to educate them about saving water and during the visit they fixed many dripping taps.
  • The head of water resources at Wessex says that the program has given them an opportunity to help people understand how they use the water at their homes.

“A Wessex Water scheme to make Mere and Gillingham homes more water efficient has helped to save one million litres.”
