In the past, the United Kingdom water industry has gained a negative public reputation for shady corporate business practices. However, the water regulation organizations in the country are attempting to force the industry to clean up its act. This will include changing water licenses, making companies share finances with customers, and forcing companies be transparent with shareholders and with executive pay. They hope that through these new regulations that the water industry will be clean up their act and public trust will be renewed.
