In 1974, American President Gerald Ford signed a law that required regulation “at the faucet” to allow American’s access to contaminant-free water. While this is to be celebrated, the Act itself still doesn’t fully protect U.S. water supplies as evidenced by the chemical spill in West Virginia and the algae growth in Lake Erie this past year.
