The online version of a British broadcasting network has published an article about Roman concrete. Scientists have been fascinated about the fact that the Roman seawalls have not disintegrated over time. Modern concrete has not lasted that long. A researcher, using advanced x-ray equipment, has determined that the concrete contains a substance that actually hardens when exposed to water. Scientists believe they may be able to reproduce this process, thus replacing the current method of making concrete, which produces CO2.
