Journal of food protection held a study, in which 20 people washed their hands with warm or cold water and in the end they determined that the temperature does not matter. Also scientists at Rutgers did a bug study in which they put harmless bugs on peoples’ hands. Half of them washed it with cold water and the other half washed with warm water. To their conclusion the temperature did not make a difference when it comes to bug removal.
