A London waterway was recently discovered to have a tunnel clogging mass of invasive molluscs. This invasive species is known as the zebra mussel and is native to the Ukraine. Spread by and transferred by infected boat hulls these mussels threaten the UK’s waterways. While they do not threaten water quality because they are filter feeders, the tunnel is shut down while the mussels are being removed. This is not a new problems as this problem in the Thames.
