How many bathtubs do we drink each year?

On December 8, 2016, in Commentary, by Erik

A recent British study reports that children in the UK drink the equivalent of a bathtub full of sugary drinks each year. The figure, 80 liters, includes non-diet soft drinks, juice drinks, sorts drinks, and sweetened coffee, tea, and energy drinks. This total is still second to the British consumption of tea which totals 876 cups, or nearly two bathtubs full.

Key Takeaways:

  • Children drink a lot of sugary drinks
  • Americans drink much more water than people in the U.K.
  • the average British person drinks 876 cups of tea a year, which is more than two bathtubs’ worth.

“Children aged between 11 and 18 drink a bathtub full of sugary drinks in a year, according to Cancer Research UK.”
