Sometimes a stranger just happens to be in the right place at the right time. 31-year-old Jay Sheppard was walking his dog near a section of river popular with children who like to swim. Observing two boys in deep water suffering obvious distress, he dashed in to lend a helping hand. Sheppard led the children to safety before they could drown, and once on shore their relatives were able to attend to them. Sheppard’s mother remarked, “He’s my hero.”
