The utility company Scottish Water is being prosecuted for the contaminated water supply of 6,000 homes in North Lanarkshire. Scottish Water advised the residents of North Lanarkshire not to bathe, drink, cook, or wash their clothes with the water. Scottish Water has set up bottled water distribution points for thos affected. This is the only major incident for Scottish Water in the past year. 99.92% of all samples taken from Scottish Water did in fact meet contamination standards.
