3,600 homes in Thorne in Doncaster were affected by high levels of bacteria in their tap water. Enough to make it unsafe to drink. Further water quality checks and consultation have determined that the water is now safe to drink, if boiled first. The Yorkshire Water company has said the advice to boil the water before drinking will be lifted when it is safe for the customer to do so. The company is currently attempting to determine the cause of the contamination.
