Dr. Askwar Hilonga of Tanzania created a low-cost water filter that can remove 99.9 percent of viruses, micro-organisms, and bacteria. The new filter implements nano-technology to filter out the contaminants such as copper, lead, and other metals as well. A single filter costs about 140 U.S. dollars and he has received a grant from the U.S. government to help him make more filters for his homeland.
