High Tides Cause Flooding in the Thames

On September 3, 2015, in Commentary, by Erik

Officials have issued flood alerts for stretches of the Thames River. The alerts were first issued this past Sunday yet still remain in place. The flooding has been due to the high tides, which have caused the river to swell.

The Environmental Agency have listed areas in Custom House, Limehouse, Rotherhithe, Greenwich, Tate Modern, and Three Mill Island in Bow as potential flood areas. The tides were said to be caused by Satruday’s ‘supermoon,’ which can affect the tides.
