Anglo-American has been taking strides in protecting local water sources from harm as they continue their mining business. Their water saving projects conserved 36 million m3 of water, which is impressive given that 70% of their mines are in water stressed areas. Yet there is still work to be done.
Anglo-American plans on continuing using recycled water or low-quality water for their operations while leaving the fresh, clean water untouched. They also plan on installing more desalination plants in the communities they work in.
