Southern England Lands Aquifer Project

Utility Southern Water will undertake an aquifer storage and recovery project in the southern England town of Worthing with the goal of helping to store drinking water for future use. This plan involves siphoning river water during the winter months, treating it, then storing it until it is needed. Other utilities throughout England, including Thames Water and Yorkshire Water, are also considering the process, which has the potential to ease drought conditions when they arise.
