Record Water Quality in England

According to 2014 test results, 99.5% of England’s coastal bathing waters and 100% of inland waters passed mandatory standards this year. Bathing water quality is affected by sewage overflows, livestock manure, and wildlife, but low rainfall and sunny weather along with improvements by water companies have helped achieve positive water quality results. Stricter measures in 2015, though, could mean more areas at risk of failing to meet standards.
