Plastics have changed our lives. Unfortunately, it has changed our lives for the better and worse. Intense plastic use has negatively impacted our environment because it takes years to decompose. The waste derived from plastic is unthinkable and is expected to become a huge problem for future generations. In addition to environmental problems, there is preliminary research about how plastic can be negative for our health. Action needs to be taken in order to reduce our plastic consumption and save the planet.
- Both macroplastics, like grocery bags, and microplastics, one’s that can barely be seen with the eye, are contributing to a global pollution crisis.
- Within the next 30 years, experts believe there will be more plastic, than fish, in the ocean.
- There is currently no evidence that microplastics affect human health, but many believe they can contaminate the air, among other detrimental impacts.
“The key issue is that synthetic materials such as plastics contain chemical combinations which means they don’t undergo decay.”
