MacArtney is given the herculean task of building an 80-kilometre water pipe from Turkey to Cyprus. The hope and aim is to provide Cyprus with 75 billion cubic metres of fresh water a year from the Turkish river of Anamur. This project, if successful, gives hope for other similar projects to occur in the dry Middle East.
