Plastic waste is wreaking havoc with our oceans, and even though recent campaigns to raise awareness of this problem have made some impact, a recent survey has shown that more than 1/5 of people do not use their reusable water bottles. Instead of bringing along the water bottle they own, many people are continuing to purchase their water as they travel, away from home, or as part of their meal purchases. A reluctance to ask for free tap water to refill their bottle while away from home is sited as a reason many people don’t carry it. Making free, safe, and convenient water sources readily available will greatly reduce the public’s plastics consumption.
