Our Apprentice Provider Belly Flops

On March 20, 2017, in Commentary, Government, News, by ukwfstaff

Positive Outcomes Ltd who provide and train our younger apprentices have reportedly just gone bankrupt.

They were the “Apprentice Training Provider” who find apprentices and supply the ongoing formal training for the apprentice to get their qualifications.

Our apprentices are very worried about their position. They are young and, frankly, scared.

These Apprentice Training Providers also handle the grants paid by the Government’s “Skills Funding Agency“. They hadn’t forwarded the grants on to us despite several weeks of chasing. (They’d acted well dodgy about these grants last year aswell, so we were on their case).

So it looks like we’ve lost the grants they were holding in trust.

Wondering how many other publicly funded grants have been lost.

As so often with these things Positive Outcomes’ staff probably won’t get the pay they’re owed. The tax man won’t get what they’re owed. And in this case it seems apprentice employers like us won’t get the grants. But don’t worry the Directors will be fine. Perhaps they’re already setting up a new agency with a similar name. That’s all perfectly legal.

RIP Positive Outcomes Ltd: “One of the UK’s top providers of apprenticeships and training with award winning programmes and dedicated, expert teams”.

Here’s how they broke the news to one of our 17 year old apprentices – late on a Friday night. (At least this lady – a trainer – bothered to let them know. But it all seems so… how to put it…  Free Market Shabby?

Subject: Goodbye and Good Luck!

Good evening,

Unfortunately due to reasons that I don’t fully understand myself, Positive Outcomes has ceased to trade from today. This has been a massive shock and we were informed today that it was with immediate effect.

Your portfolios as I understand it, will be passed onto an alternative training provider, unfortunately this is not something I can give you any further information on.

I wanted to express my thanks to each and every one of you for making my job an absolute pleasure to carry out. I have enjoyed every moment in working with you and will miss you all.

I wish everyone the best of luck in both completing their award and the future.

I am so sorry to have to deliver this devastating news and I hope you all continue to thrive and be the best that you can be!

Kindest regards,

XXX
