Spectra Watermakers, a company specializing in small scale and energy efficient desalination systems, has opened a solar and wind-powered desalination plant on the atoll of Kili in the Marshall Islands. Kili’s 1200 residents had been suffering from both drought and polluted groundwater. Without a need for fuel, this plant saves thousands of dollars a year while providing a consistent, affordable water supply!
