Irish protest over water taxes

The public has been raging over water charges with between 30,000 and 100,000 people protesting in Dublin.

Police lines were hit with rocks and plastic bottles, and even a missile which sent one Garda officer to the hospital. However, most protesters were peaceful.

Government ministers repeated the message that the water taxes are here to stay.
