Two men have recently caught Legionnaires’ disease after using local car washes, according to the Daily Mail. The pathogen which causes the deadly disease, legionella, thrives in warm, water-based environments and is then spread when water droplets become aerosolized and diffused. While the disease does not often get much publicity, aside from major outbreaks, it is prevalent across the U.K., especially in warmer months, with about 1,000 cases, including some fatal infections, reported each year.
